Waterford Youth Committee is an umbrella body representing an amalgamation of statutory and voluntary youth organisations in Waterford City. Its aim is to co-ordinate and promote the development of youth services within the framework of the City of Waterford VEC.

    We currently have 24 boys in total aged between the ages of seven and eleven years, that meet every Wednesday evening,

    6.30 – 7.30pm in St. Olaf’s Hall, Waterford. They engage in a variety of activities from sports to drama. We encourage individuals

    from the community with skills that will benefit the boys in their future to come onboard and offer their support and wisdom. To this

    end the boys have had an introduction to a number of external activities from a walking tour of Waterford City, to a visit

    to the local Garda Station to an introduction to first aid, Drama, Dance, Bicycle Repair/Maintenance, archery, self defence,

    dunmore East Adventure water sport activities, drumming sessions and lots more.

     

    Funding received enables the continued improvement and development of services and facilities the boys use and

    makes more opportunities possible and accessible to them, it would be hoped that the boys brigade would offer skills that

    the boys can bring with them into their future and that the time spent, will hold special memories and encourage them

    with their own children and their communities in time to come. A quarterly review of what the boys have taken part in can

    be seen in the Spires magazine (Christ Church Cathedral).

    The Girls’ Brigade Ireland operates in 33 companies around the country, offering a varied programme of activities designed to educate,

    challenge and inspire young people in a safe, fun and sociable environment. Every girl has talents to share and skills to develop and we

    can provide many opportunities for this in an informal setting.
